Its nearly time.
There have been difficulties with personnel involved with the album, but thankfully we are nearly through the woodwork. Specifically, we have still not settled on the final set of songs we will use on the album – this has been a very frustrating process! We were nearly set with 13 tracks, but unfortunately 2 of them had to be changed. So now we are working on 1 maybe 2 tracks to replace the 2 that had to be cut. So I can happily inform you that 11 tracks are recorded, mixed, mastered and ready to go!
The first single will be revealed very soon – but we would like your help in deciding this. In a few weeks, we would like to give you samples of a few songs. The idea is that you are able to listen to them, then take a vote and let us know which one you like the best. The song with the most votes we will release as the first single! But that’s coming up shortly.
The artwork for the album is also just about complete – you can view the cover everywhere on www.j-funk.com, as well as our myspace & facebook pages. The cover is me basically trying to reach the microphone – it represents the work & commitment needed in the music industry, with the road towards success sometimes difficult, but the success is always in view and in reach. You may remember the title track from my album “Breakthru” being featured on the “Soul Unsigned Volume 2″ compilation album – this album was created by the excellent DJ & founder of Soul Unsigned Records, Mr Phil Driver. Phil has been recently interviewed by DJ Soulswede on “soulinterviews.com” website/station, where he reveals some background about his label & his compilation releases. And I am very grateful in the fact that “Breakthru” has been selected as one of the tracks to feature in Phil’s interview – a noteworthy selection considering the amount of music that Phil receives on a regular basis. You might remember from last year when J-FUNK received some radio airplay on DJ Phil Driver’s “Soul Unsigned” show in Sweden, Teneriffe, New York and London. Soul Unsigned also runs its own record label, and they have just released their 2nd “Soul Unsigned” compilation album, featuring a number of great artists. Big thank you for 2008 – 31 December 2008
Well 2008 was quite a year. First and foremost, I’d like to sincerely and gratefully thank you all for your support in 2008 – albums were sold, new fans jumped on board. But I think the most pleasing aspect was being able to perform live for you, with my fantastic band – whom I’d also like to thank sincerely.
We had great shows at The Watershed, Babalou, The Old Explorer (Sunshine Party!), The Pigalle Club & The Bullet Bar. We certainly came a long way from solo gigs in 2007, to a 9 piece live band in 2008!! There will be more live shows in the 2nd half of 2009 – looking forward to seeing you all then!!
